September 11 -- Let us never forget...and then let's love each other!

What happened in NYC six years ago was a terrible thing. Too horrific to imagine. Sometimes I wonder - what if I were there? what if a family member or a friend happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time? I remember my dad browsing Harrods in London about 30 minutes before the place was blown up! Is that some stroke of luck, do you think?

Personally, it also makes me think of so many other horrors and wars that have happened or still exist in the world.

~ About 800,000 ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus exterminated in the Rwandan Civil War in 1994.

~ Hundreds of thousands of people raped and murdered as a result of the conflict in Darfur, Sudan since 2002.

~ The Soviet invasion in Afghanistan in the late 70s-80s resulting in genocide.

~ The murder and exile of the Tibetans at the hands of the Chinese between the 1960s and 1980s.

~ The genocidal campaign against the Kurds by the Iraqis in the 1980s under Saddam Hussein.

~ Hundreds of thousands of civilians killed in the current war in Iraq.

~ Tens of thousands of American soldiers lose their life or physical/ mental health in the current war in Iraq.

So many others to list - it would take me forever...

No, it's impossible to forget any of these horrible events or even to fathom why they even happen, especially in today's age. Why is there so much evil and hate in this world?

Many, including I, keep wondering this. Others prefer to move on. Each and every day, good hearted and determined people want to make the world a better place. In India, Amma gives people the unique gift of a hug and a smile. This is her way of giving hope and thousands flock to her on a given day. Read more about this remarkable lady at:

Back on our shores, the rebuilding in NYC is going on as we speak. Ground zero will once more flourish into a place of pride, a place where many lost their lives but also a place where others have found hope and purpose. The 10 year project is being chronicled on the website quoted below and I think it's pretty cool as the webcam refreshes every minute and you can see what's going on each day.

So remember all of this so you can stay hopeful, be kind to others and express desire for an Earth full of peace and love. Let's create a better place to live in. Perhaps we can't control what goes on in the world, at least not on a grand scale. But what we can do is our little part to live as compassionately as we can.
